After the first two years at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute I realised I had gathered an interest for textiles and product development, rather than marketing and branding. The last two years of my bachelors I was given the opportunity to explore this interest further and among other things, do an exchange to the Swedish School of textiles to follow a program in textile engineering. In Sweden I followed courses in experimental weaving, textile chemistry, textile product development and textile economy.
The experimental weaving course was all about learning how to weave by hand and understanding weaving patterns. As the last assignment for the course we had to plan our own weaving pattern and set up a hand loom by ourselves.
During the product development course we were tasked to develop a sleeping bag with an innovative textile. We developed a sleeping bag that was easy to roll up and used biodegradable materials, so it was great to use and/or leave on festivals.
